Why your small business needs a website.
Do you really need a website for your business? The answer is yes! As a business owner and website designer I personally have felt and experienced the impact of having a quality, well-built website that exposes your business in all the right ways - you're here after all, right?
The idea of building and creating an effective website for your business can be rather daunting. There are many different aspects of the website itself that require a lot of time and energy to ensure they are completed just right. A website is often the face of a business, the first place a customer or client will go.
As a business owner myself I truly appreciate that your website needs to be a true representation of what it is you stand for. From the moment that potential client or customer opens the homepage, they need to feel as though they are exactly in the right place.

8 reasons why your business needs a website
1: Social media vs Website - Social media isn't forever
Social media is a fantastic platform to attract potential customers. However, your website holds the true impact. It's a place where all information and important details can be displayed and easily accessible. If your business is product-based it will act as a storefront for the consumer to place an order. Unlike social media, your website is here to stay. Platforms such as Instagram, Facebook and TikTok - although a great marketing tool, can have security issues and recently even had outages (ABC Australia: March 2024 Outage) leaving your business vulnerable. A website allows for you to share bulk, targeted, information regarding your business, rather than small snippets allowing for maximum impact.
2: Reference - contact
Websites are a great point of contact for potential customers and clients who may be wishing to reach out. All necessary details are able to be easily provided and displayed allowing for communication between the customer and business. Websites are able to contain dynamic, tailored contact forms, links and automation, making communication easy and simple.
3: Professionalism - build credibility
A strong website builds credibility with clients and customers showing them that your business is professional and to be taken seriously. In some cases having only social media portrays a non-professional and potentially untrustworthy business. The reason being it can often appear as though the business owner doesn't value their business enough to invest in a quality built website that is going to benefit their target audience. Your website is the perfect place to showcase your business and show others you're here to stay.
4: Tell your story - define your business
Social media is the perfect tool for showing snapshots of your business. However, a website tells the full story of what it is your business is here to provide and the problem you solve for your customers. Consumers can appreciate the journey of a small business, so why not allow them the opportunity to know your business more deeply? Building connections with potential customers will always be at the forefront of a successful business.
5: Creative freedom - showcase your business
Your business website is exactly that, YOURS. Your website can be perfectly designed to celebrate your creativity and unique style. Build your brand's identity that is unique and speaks to your ideal client.
6: Analytics - foot traffic data
Learn more about what is working for your business and what isn't working. A website will provide you with collected data such as the amount of traffic your website is receiving, page views and if any links within your website are being opened. It may just surprise you how much traffic your business is receiving online, where they are coming from and where they are spending their time.
7: Growth - establish your brand
A website might be the next step to grow your small business. Your social media presence may be strong but why not take it to the next level? Once a small business has been established online via social media platforms a website is the next step to ensure the business continues to grow and flourish. As a business owner, it is the perfect way to provide your clients with conversational emails, helpful blog posts and quality information about how you can help them with whatever it is you specialise in.
8: Organisation - streamline your business operations
Your website can be more than just a pretty face. If your business is product based why not include methods for your product to be easily purchased? If your business is service-based, let's include a book now button, making it unbelievably easy for clients to find a suitable time in your calendar and book a call seamlessly. Your website is able to do a lot of the heavy lifting allowing you more time to spend working on the areas of your business that really require your attention.
