The Power of Intention — In the Arena and in Business

Those who are going to win next year are already putting in the effort now. That might sound a bit woo woo, but stay with me. There are 50 days left in 2025. If you just became 1% better every day for the next 50 days, you’d already be 50% ahead of everyone else rolling into 2026. That’s not manifesting, that’s math. And it’s powerful. Saying I will be 50% better this time next year sounds impossible. However, saying I can be 1% better everyday is a lot less intimating!

For those following along from my last email before I headed off to the Ranch Horse Nationals in Scone, NSW, we’re back home now and catching up on general life. After a week of rest (and washing endless horse gear), I’ve had time to reflect on what worked, what didn’t, and how much of it has nothing to do with horses and everything to do with business.

Finding Time When You Don’t Have Any

Most of you know I’m a mum to a nearly two-year-old. My husband works away five days at a time (yay for solo parenting). We live on a small farm, I run my business, and we care for our elderly grandmother. So yeah, “free time” doesn’t exist around here. I do think its my personality, I love a loaded schedule, it’s the Leo in me for sure!

For the longest time I told myself I had no time to ride. No time to think. No time to work. Yet when I looked closer, I had nearly ten hours a day. I just wasn’t being intentional with it. It’s wild how committed and productive you can become when your time is limited and you actually value it.

The Only Thing That Changed Was My Intention

Driving home from Nationals, I thought about how well my horse went. I’ve owned Indy for five years. We’ve always been reasonably successful, but this year was different. This year, we were confidently successful.

The difference? Intention.

Every ride leading up to Nationals had a plan. I’d set a goal for that session, choose the exercises, focus on one thing, and only one thing. That’s it. No chaos. No half-doing five things at once. Just intentional effort.

Two rides like that. Two shows. Two wins.
Coincidence? I don’t think so.

Business Isn’t Any Different

When I thought about it later, I realised the same thing applies to my business. I already work with intention. I cram ten hours of work into two (with a baby that doesn’t sleep) can I just say whoever came up with saying “sleep like a baby” needs to meet my son. But even then, I’m guilty of surface work: twenty tabs open, half-finished projects, no deep thinking.

That’s not intention. That’s survival mode.

So this month, I’m treating my business like I treat my horse training. With a plan, a goal, and focus on one thing at a time. That’s how you see progress, in the saddle and behind the screen. Intention is always KEY!

What’s Next: My New 1:1 Coaching Program

If you’ve made it this far, you’re probably one of three people: a friend, a client, or someone who’s ready to start working with real intention.

I’ve been quietly building a one-on-one coaching program for small business owners who want to move from a couple of thousand dollars a month to consistent $10K months. It’s been a long time coming, because, well, life. And two hours a day goes fast. Especially whilst running on low sleep thanks to my little one.

But my intention for the rest of this year is to finish and launch it, even if it’s messy.

I’ll be offering three heavily discounted spots for early clients in exchange for honest feedback and a testimonial. If you want to be the first to hear when it’s ready, pop your name on the list here. No hard sell, no spam, just genuine updates.

Because the truth is, those who start now will be the ones ahead when the clock ticks over into 2026, and I plan on being one of them.

PS. Here are a few pics of Indy and me from our last two shows. Six years of ownership, two years of barely riding, and now it’s finally all coming together. Proof that nothing good happens overnight.
